The ability to look deeply is the root of creativity. To see past the ordinary and mundane and get to what might otherwise be invisible. - Rick Rubin
Heidi melds the spiritual and playful to create soulful acrylic paintings that range from bold and oversized abstract canvases to contemplative still lifes. As an artist she is best known for her inspired, custom animal portraits. Heidi uses her calm and sensitive nature to connect with her animal subjects. She creates lasting family heirlooms through a multilayered process that involves gathering photographs as well as meeting with the owner and animal in person when possible.
Raised among a family of artists in Oak Bay, British Columbia, Heidi currently lives in Vancouver where she draws upon the nature that surrounds her. As part of a long-term path toward self-discovery, Heidi practices Reiki, meditation and has participated in process painting workshops, which places emphasis on the creative process. She has studied under Canadian portraitist Nicholas Pearce and participated in artist workshops throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Her bold and diverse portfolio is reflective of her honest, imperfect and ever-evolving path.
